Message from Momo:

"Courtney and I are both so excited to be back for a full weekend of workshops this May! Hard to believe 15 months has passed since our last visit. Judging by what I've seen on your website and from Facebook, it looks like your community is thriving, which makes me so happy!

This May weekend, we will be delving into topics with a progressing level of difficulty. While one is neither more or less valuable than another, we encourage you, if at all possible, to commit to the entire weekend. The concepts we will be covering over the course of the weekend build upon each other. The first two workshops on embrace, connection, and musicality are both fundamental, and indispensable and will set the stage for the the final three vocabulary based workshops.

As always, the material for each workshop will be progressively presented allowing for all levels of dancers to benefit  from brand new to advanced. Looking forward to seeing you then!"

Meet Courtney

Courtney stumbled upon tango by chance in 2005. With her extensive background as a classical musician, tango appealed to her need for musical freedom of expression in movement. She connected instantly with the complex, layered style of the music and fell in love with the intuitive feel of the dance.

Since then her heart has lead her to social dance, teach, perform, and DJ tango in cities around the world. Her focus on freedom, improvisation, and natural movement in tango is core to her philosophy, and she approaches it with a curiosity-positive, light-hearted energy that encourages her students to keep seeking in their own dance. This is Courtney's second time teaching in Boise.

...and Momo!

Courtney Moore & Momo Smitt

Over the past six plus years, Momo has been traveling nonstop, teaching, performing, djing, and rapping at tango festivals and in local communities across the United States and Canada. He Co-organizes both the Portland Tango Marathon and CONNECT Tango Festival. He emphasizes community building and comfortable and connected social dancing in his organizing and his teaching. Known for his embrace and his musicality, he works to spread his style of dancing throughout the tango world with workshops revolving around a slower, simpler dance, where the music, and the partnership, not the steps, are the primary focus. Djing, like performing music, is about working the crowd. He loves watching the dancers, and building the night around the energy in the room. This is Momo's seventh time teaching in Boise.
